Please take note that the Executive Director of the Namibia Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) wish to inform persons responsible for Environmental Protections under the following sectors/industries Airline Operators & Representatives, Airport Operators, Fuel Producers & Suppliers, Government Officials particularly from the following ministerial agencies (Transport, Environment, Energy, Agriculture), Technology Providers, National Standard Institutions, Accreditation Bodies & Validation & Verification Bodies Investors and Development Agencies are herewith invited to attend the joint International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), International Air Transport Association (IATA)/African Airlines Association (AFRAA) virtual webinar pertaining to the challenges and opportunities presented by the adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) within the African aviation sector.
The joint webinar emanates from the Third ICAO Conference on Aviation and Alternative Fuels (CAAF/3), held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 20 to 24 November 2023, where the international aviation sector took giant steps to accelerate decarbonization of the sector. The Conference witnessed the adoption of the new ICAO Global Framework for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and Lower Carbon Aviation Fuels (LCAF) and other Aviation Cleaner Energies. This included the shared commitment of ICAO and its Member States to achieving a 5% reduction in international aviation CO2 emissions by 2030, compared to zero cleaner energy use.
